Day 13 Dogtober - FREE Haida (Aggretsuko) Pattern

For day 13 of Dogtober I offer you a pattern for Haida from Aggretsuko. He is one of my absolute favourites, and although he isn't actually a dog, I needed an excuse to make him for myself. As always my patterns are written in US crochet terms.

 

Materials:

• Red brown, dark brown, medium brown, light grey, dark grey and black medium weight yarn.
• Crochet hook (3.25mm)
• Yarn needle
• Black, white, grey and red felt.
• Felting needle
• Polyfil Stuffing

Legs (x2):

In red brown.

1: CH6

2: SC10 around (10)

4: (SC1, INC) x5 (15)

5: (SC2, INC) x5 (20)

6: BLO SC20 (20)

7: SC8, DEC, DEC, SC8 (18)

8: (SC6, DEC) x3, SC6 (15)

Switch to black.

9-15: SC15 (15) Finish off on 1 leg, do not finish off on the second. Just continue by working both legs together at the next round.

Body:

Join both legs together at round 16 and SC in the round to make the tum.

16: SC5 in right leg, then join by SC15 around left leg, SC10 around right leg. (30)

switch to white.

Tail:

In dark grey.

1: CH16
2: SL, 3SC, 9HDC, 2SC, CH1 and turn.
3: SL, 2SC, 2HDC, 2DC, CH2, SL back into same stitch, 1HDC, 1DC, CH2, SL back into same stitch, 1HDC, 1DC, CH2, SL back into same stitch, SL and Finish off.

Ears (x2):

In dark brown

1: MR8 (8)

2: INC x8 (16)
3: (1SC, INC) x8 (24)
4: (2SC, INC) x8 (32)
5: (3SC, INC) x8 (40) Finish off, fold in half and stitch together into a semi-circle.

Inner Ears (x2):

In light grey.

1: CH7
2: 1SC, 5HDC, CH2 turn.
3: 1DC, CH2 SL, 1HDC, 1DC, CH2 SL, SL, Finish off.

Muzzle:

In dark grey.

1: CH7, turn and start a round.
2: SC12 around.
3: (SC1 INC) x6 (18)
4: (SC2 INC) x6 (24)
5-6: SC24 (24)
7: SC4, FLO 1HDC, 1DC, CH2 1SC in 1st CH, 1DC, 1HDC, both loops continue the round with 16SC (24) Finish off.

 

Assembly:

• Sew on the arms using excess yarn tails. 
• Attach the tail to the back of the body.
• Sew inner ears on to semi-circle shaped ears. 
• Attach ears to head with inner ear facing forward.
• Attach muzzle to face with point facing up.
• Use felt to make face.
• Glue on a felt tie just under the collar
• Attach head to body.

...and you're done, enjoy your new friend!
